ACF Auction FAQ

Whether you're looking for unique experiences, travel packages, or special gift items, your participation makes a meaningful impact in the lives of marginalized and racialized communities in Toronto.

1. Auction Items

Our auction features a curated selection of items donated by generous partners, businesses, and community supporters. You’ll find: 

  • Getaways & Travel - All-inclusive vacation and travel packages, and hotel stays. 
  • Unique Experiences & Entertainment - Winery tour & tasting, tickets to arts & history museums, exciting family adventures, spa & yoga classes, and more.
  • Goods & Services - Premium gaming headsets, coffee makers, air fryers, and other cool appliances  

There’s something for everyone! 

2. Purpose of the Auction 

Proceeds from this auction directly support the Afro-Carib Fest, a free annual community event that celebrates diversity and culture. These funds also support Heritage Skills Development Centre (HSDC) skills training and capacity-building programs, which empower racialized, low-income, and marginalized newcomers, refugees, women, youth, and families in the Greater Toronto Area. 

Your contribution helps strengthen our community, build new opportunities, and create more equitable access to resources and support.  

3. How the Auction Works 

We’ve made the auction easy to participate in. Here’s how it works: 

Step 1: Register or Sign In 

  • Create an account with your name and email to start bidding.  
  • Once you’re signed in, you’ll have full access to browse all items, place bids, and receive updates. 

Step 2: Browse Catalogue 

  • Explore the items on our auction page. Each listing includes photos, descriptions, retail value, starting bid, and any important details (expiry dates or restrictions). 
  • If you see something you like, you can monitor its activity or set your maximum bid.  

Step 3: Place a bid 

  • Each item has a starting bid (minimum amount to begin bidding) and a minimum bid increment (how much higher each new bid must be). 
  • Enter your bid amount and submit.
  • If you’re outbid, you’ll receive a notification (by email or text) so you can decide to increase your bid.  
     

4. Auction Duration & Closing

  • The auction runs for a limited time, giving you enough time to browse, bid, and revisit. You can check back anytime to see how your bids are doing. 
  • At the end of the auction, the highest valid bid wins. Note you will only be charged if you decide to pay for a bid 

5. Payment & Checkout

Once the auction closes, winners are notified and directed to pay securely online. The platform handles payment processing, and receipts are issued automatically. 

6. Item Fulfillment

  • For physical items, we will email you clear instructions to pick up your item or have it shipped to your address.  
  • For experiences (like travel, hotel stays, or wine tasting), you’ll receive the vouchers or details on how to redeem your item. 

7. Additional Tips & Clarity 

  • Fairness: All bids are final once placed; make sure you're comfortable with the amount before confirming. 
  • Security: Payments are handled securely through our auction platform.
